Yenny trough the Net

A couple of months ago somebody told me that he created a Yenny Yahoo Club. I went to see it and WOW! That guy collected EVERY and I mean EVERY piece of Yenny artwork that I've done trough these years. Things that I even forgot they existed!
His screen name is Expirasin, he's one of the members of our forum and he has done one heck of a job!

Harvey-Eisner and those awards.

Today I went to the post office and got an envelope with the traditional nomination ballot for the Harvey Awards.
.........................the TENTH nomination ballot that arrives to my mailbox during my comic book artist years.
I looked at it for a while and tought.... Man! It's been ten years already since I've been drawing the Looney Tunes....and I've never won a single thing for it.
I laugh every time I hear someone saying "man, they should do more Looney Tunes". I mean...'Hello'?? What about us? Artists and writers who have kept Bugs' ears alive trough the years in the comics.
Usually cartoon artists are not recognized among comic book artists because....I don't know....Our work is not 'mature' enough? Or demanding enough?

I remember drawing the cover for Looney Tunes # 50 a few years ago. They were celebrating 50 comics! The franchise made it! 5o freakin'comics! (100-something now as we speak). The cover featured the Looney Tunes coming out of their trademark ring and the editor wanted a variant cover for it with a golden ring. That would've been a blast! But....it didn't passed the approval because...It's too expensive and the LT books are not that collectible.

Today I stand before my drawing table. I have yet another Looney Tunes story to finish in my hands and wondering.... Are those who are voting thinking on us?... Maybe not on me but what about Mike De Carlo? A great senior inker whose work goes from Looney Tunes to classic Batman stories?... Bill Matheny? A TREMENDOUS funny writer? Dan Slott? A wonderful funny-writer who understands the Looney Tunes so well? The Duendes-Pablo Zamboni, Omar Aranda, and the others whose work has done so much for the cartoon comics?
What about them? What about us?

Rolling Stones en Puerto Rico

Fui a ver los Rolling Stones este fin de semana. Fue una experiencia de esas que se te queda en la mente. No solo porque tocan brutal...sino porque tal vez sea la última vez que vea a Mick Jagger VIVO frente a mi.
Casi todos los que estaban allí eran fanáticos de 55 años para arriba. Mi esposa y yo eramos los únicos cara-e-nenes por ahí excepto uno que otro ujier y los que atendían los Kioskos.
Otra cosa es que... Este evento se dío en El Coliseo de Puerto Rico y cuando leí la taquilla decía que nos ibamos a sentar en el 4to piso. Yo como que no lo tomé en serio pero me dí cuenta de que seguiamos subiendo y subiendo escaleras a to' fuete. Cuando lelgamos arriba...el que no sufriera de vertigo lo iba a sufrir porque lo único que dividia el lugar donde estabamos de una caida de 4 pisos era una varita de metal finita. MI MADRE!!!!

Anyway, fue muy buena experiencia y DEFINITIVAMENTE que voy a vacilar con esto en los comics de Yenny. JA-JAAA!!!

CHANGUY

Oooh, Changuy, Changuy.... I've been asked for his return so many times this week that I just felt like posting something.
The truth is that I would love to do so. But comic publishing is rather expensive unless the right financial support appears. So this is sort of an open proposal for those who want to see the return of the Bird in a Mask.

BORICUAS! Aquí, por favor!

Vaya, mi gente;
Se que hay algunos de ustedes que se están preguntando "Por qué está todo en inglés"? "Yo vi este tipo hablando de kenepas en PRIMERA HORA AYER!" Soy boricua, vivo en Puertorro y como arroz con gandules; Pero, Yenny se publica en dos idiomas y está distribuida online por Ucomics, (Universal Press Syndicate). Antes de llegar a Primera Hora, el comic se estaba publicando online para Estados Unidos y tiene una base de lectores allá afuera. Por lo tanto me tengo que mantener publicando en dos idiomas.
Hay actividades, artículos y cosas que son exclusivas para Puerto Rico
Quiero decirles que se sientan en la libertad de poner sus comentarios en español porque yo les voy a contestar en español. Asi que, ya saben. Boricuas en la luna, no se guillen!! JA!

CLASES DE DIBUJO

Tal y como lo leen. Me voy a guillar de maestro y voy a dar clases de dibujo.
Aquí van los detalles:

Lunes 5:00 PM a 6:00 PM: Ninos

Lunes 6:00 PM a 7:00 PM: Adultos

Lugar: Lakeside Club en Encantada

Costo: $120 mensuales (Incluye materiales)

Va a haber un Open House el 27 de febrero a las 6:00 PM para explicar las clases y allí mismo se hace la matrícula. Para mas detalles, envíe un e-mail a: dastudio@caribe.net

Las clases va a enfatizar en diseno de personajes, comics y bases de animacion.
